FAQSee how it really works

Questions about Layerfall.

What Layerfall is, how to use it, what is here for teachers and for organizations, and how everything is checked.

About Layerfall

What it is, who it is for, and how it differs from a video channel or a course.

What is Layerfall?

A visual learning platform for discovering how the world really works, one fascinating question at a time. Each journey opens a How question layer by layer, down to the principle underneath, with pictures first and every fact sourced.

Who is it for?

Anyone curious, from about ten years old to engineers. Every layer is written clearly enough for a 12-year-old and stays exact enough for an expert, and you choose between Surface, Deeper and Technical.

Is Layerfall a video channel?

Films are one way in. Layerfall is the whole journey behind them: the layers you can open, the sources, the maps, the books and the lessons.

How is it different from a course or a textbook?

A course walks you through a syllabus. Layerfall starts from a question you already have, falls through the layers, and then shows which subjects you met on the way. Teachers can start from the curriculum instead and get the questions that open it.

Is it free?

Journeys are free to explore, and sources and corrections always stay free. Layerfall Deep adds depth for members, and never takes away anything that was free.

Using Layerfall

Journeys, depths, the Atlas, and the things you can take home.

What is a journey?

One question opened layer by layer. You can open any layer, choose how deep to go, predict what happens when something changes, see where else the same idea appears, and see which concepts and subjects you met on the way.

What do Surface, Deeper and Technical mean?

Three depths of the same true answer. Surface gives the big idea in plain words. Deeper shows what is happening inside, every sentence resting on a checked fact. Technical gives the real physics, maths and engineering, with the sources.

What is the Atlas?

A living map of how questions and concepts connect. Pick any point and fall into a new journey.

Do I need an account?

No. You can explore every journey without signing in.

What is Layerfall Deep?

A membership for the most curious: technical layers, interactive simulations, guided source trails and reference sheets on every question. Sources and corrections stay free for everyone.

What are Layer Maps and Layerfall Press?

A Layer Map is one page that falls through a whole journey, on screen, as a print poster and in an education edition. Layerfall Press books begin with questions, and each section ends with what you now understand.

For teachers

Lessons that start with a mystery and map to the curriculum.

What does Layerfall Classroom give a teacher?

Choose a topic you need to teach and get the How questions that open it, with a lesson, teacher guide, worksheet, quiz, vocabulary and slides for each age band, all built from the same checked facts as the journeys.

Can students use the journeys directly?

Yes. Every journey is open to read without an account, and every layer starts at Surface, written for a 12-year-old.

For organizations

Pictures, journeys and explanations for people who need something complicated understood.

Can we use Layerfall's visuals?

Layerfall Visuals licenses diagrams, animations, 3D objects and interactive components, found by subject and by concept, with their rights recorded.

Can we put a Layerfall journey on our own site?

Layerfall Embed places a live journey inside your site or product, powered by Layerfall and in step with the checked facts.

Can Layerfall explain our product or technology?

Layerfall Studio makes custom visual explanations: research, script and pictures, long and short versions, stills, an embed and translations.

Can a company sponsor a question?

A company can fund a genuine How question next to its field. The sponsor is always named, and Layerfall decides what is true.

Can software use Layerfall's knowledge?

Knowledge licensing gives software that teaches structured, verified knowledge: How questions, concepts, how they connect, and checked facts with their sources.

Trust, sources and privacy

How the facts are checked, who approves them, and what we do not do.

How do you know the facts are right?

Every claim keeps its source, simplifications are labelled as simplifications, and a person approves each page before it is published. The steps are on the home page and the About page.

Where do the numbers on the site come from?

Every research fact names its study and links to the full citation. The How we teach page lists every source it uses.

Does AI write the pages?

AI helps with research and drafting. People decide which questions are worth making and approve each page before it is published; nothing goes live on its own.

What if something is wrong?

It is corrected where everyone can see. Sources and corrections stay free.
